Matthew James Publishing is a family-owned independent publishing house founded in 1993. Our motto ‘Publishing with Ideals’ has guided our business practices from day one: influencing our relationships with our authors, customer service practices, and the titles we produce.

We are very proud of what we have been able to accomplish everything we have in the past 3 decades, constantly going from strength to strength thanks to the brilliant books we have worked on and the wonderful people we have been fortunate to work with.

Having initially been founded as a publisher of religious materials (now Rejoice Publications) by Michael and Gwen Shaw, Matthew James is now led by their son, managing director, James Shaw. Taking over in 2012, James looked to new horizons. Matthew James began to produce mainstream fiction, non-fiction titles, and poetry books. A children’s imprint (Tiny Tree Children’s Books) was set up too, whilst our design services also expanded. All whilst maintaining the legacy that Michael and Gwen established in 1993.
